The Vinoy originally known as Vinoy Park Hotel was built in 1925 named after Aymer Vinoy Laughner, a wealthy Pennsylvania Businessman. It was built in just 10 months and opened on New Years Eve 1925. After sitting unoccupied for 18 years, it was rebirthed in May of 1990. In 2008 it received a 3.5 million renovation. Today The Vinoy Renaissance is a pouplar vacation destination and event venue, as well as being the chose hotel for most of the professional baseball teams who play the Tampa Bay Rays at nearby Tropicana Field. The Tea Garden very popular for weddings is not only a beautiful outdoor area, but also has a beautiful permanent tent Pavilion for a comfortable reception. The Sunset Ballroom located at the Vinoy Golf Club is 2 miles away from the main building on Snell Isle.
